Russia’s War on Ukraine Continues Despite Two Years of Economic Sanctions


The US-led effort to impose crippling sanctions on Russia following its 2022 invasion of Ukraine may have curbed Vladimir Putin’s war effort. But two years later, the ultimate goal of the effort appears increasingly out of reach, with Russia’s economy now projected to beat expectations this year.

With some Congressional Republicans blocking more aid as Ukraine runs short on ammunition and Russia gains ground, and as the White House and Europe promise new sanctions tied to the death of Alexey Navalny and the anniversary of the war, the Big Take DC podcast takes stock of what sanctions have achieved so far.
