BBC The Apprentice’s Alan Sugar’s health scare which could have killed him at any moment

Lord Alan Sugar is one of the most successful self-made British billionaires of his generation.

Born Alan Michael Sugar, the 76-year-old business tycoon has founded and owns multiple companies, having started up his first, now defunct, British electronics company at just 21.

The BBC Apprentice host’s early beginnings were worlds away from the affluent life he lives today after he worked his way to the top.

However, with hard work also comes a lot of stress and it seems that Lord Sugar’s business projects may have finally started to take a toll on his health after many years.

The former Spurs chairman opened up about how he had the fright of his life when a doctor discovered he had a killer heart defect which could have killed him at any moment.

Lord Sugar revealed how medics told him he had a deadly “widow-maker” artery blockage just hours after a 25-mile tandem bike ride with his wife Ann in the US.

Speaking on Piers Morgan’s old ITV Life Stories show, Alan explained how his wife had accused him of being a hypochondriac for saying he was in pain after their bike ride.

Ann had told her husband that going to the doctor’s was a waste of time but little did they both know, that it might have been what potentially saved his life.
