New mental health support club launched in Torbay

A new support group to help young people struggling with their mental health is being set up in Torbay.

Joel Sutton, director at the Youth Mental Health Foundation, says: “We’re a local non-profit supporting young people’s mental health in Torbay.

“It’s a group for the parents/carers of children and young people struggling with emotions, behaviour and/or mental health.

“It’s a fully funded, free-to-access group, coaching these parents to better support their struggling child/teen – and is open to all parents/carers living in Torbay.”

Funding has been supplied by NHS Devon, South West Water, and the Allen Lane Foundation – so it’s free for parents.

An Information session for interested parents/carers is being held on Tuesday March 5 and Wednesday March 6.

Joel says: “We’re really grateful for all the schools, doctor surgeries, statutory agencies, non-profits, and partners in Torbay helping us to publicise this project.”

The support group is to help children between eight and 17.

The information sessions for parents are at 7pm on Tuesday March 5 and 1pm on Wednesday March 6.
