The Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) has announced that the third Musicians’ Mental Health Month in April will focus on performance anxiety. This year’s campaign is a collaboration with the Musicians’ Union (MU), the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM), and Tonic Rider.

Amongst the line-up of events will be an online performance anxiety workshop by Tonic Rider, facilitated by Jade Hughes, and one-to-one coaching opportunities with Marion Friend, MBE. As part of the campaign’s mission to promote year-round mental health support for musicians, the MU will be releasing free-to-access performance anxiety resources, offering guides from both clinical and coaching perspectives.

‘As a musician, educator and music psychologist myself, I understand all too well the impact that performance anxiety can have on careers and lives,’ says YCAT project manager Kate Blackstone. ‘Recent graduates may find it difficult to know where to turn for help and advice, so I’m really proud that we at YCAT are partnering with industry experts to promote new resources that will provide ongoing support.

The 2024 Musicians’ Mental Health Month will run until 30 April. For more information, visit here.
