Aston Villa 2023/24 Premier League prize money after fourth place confirmed

The final game of the season will be one of celebration for Aston Villa with the season’s objectives completed with one game to spare.

Villa’s draw against Liverpool on Monday night, coupled with Tottenham’s loss against Manchester City 24 hours later saw fourth place confirmed. It prompted celebrations from Unai Emery and his team at the club’s end-of-season awards.

The travelling fans will join in with the celebrations when Villa take on in-form Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon. Whatever happens in that game, Villa will finish the season in fourth place in the Premier League and play in the Champions League next season.

So what does that mean for Emery and the club’s finances as they start preparations for the 2024/25 campaign?

Based on last season, their fourth-place finish will earn Villa £52.9 million in prize money from the Premier League, that’s £9.3 million more than they earned from their seventh-place finish in 2022/23. Each position in the Premier League is worth £3.1 million more than the one below.

That figure is however just part of what Villa will earn from competing in the Premier League this season. Each club is also given a set amount of money from the league’s domestic and international broadcast agreements that make up 50 percent of the income.
