After missing out on a pair of blue-chip prospects on Friday, the Miami Hurricanes rebounded on the recruiting trail Sunday by landing a commitment from cornerback Ai’King Hall, who flipped his pledge from Oregon to Miami.
It was just the first commitment of the day, as three-star edge rusher Jayvon Dawson out of Lantana Santaluces also announced his pledge to Miami on Sunday.
King, from Dothan, Alabama, is ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 73 overall player in the Class of 2027 by the 247Sports composite ranking. He had been committed to Oregon since April 6.
Listed at 5-11 and 190 pounds, King is the third cornerback in Miami’s class, joining five-star Donte Wright and three-star Sherrod Gourdine.
Meanwhile, Dawson is ranked as the No. 44 overall prospect from the state of Florida and No. 505 overall, per the 247Sports composite ranking. Dawson chose Miami over North Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky among a slew of other offers.
The commitments come after Miami missed out on both St. Thomas Aquinas five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews (who chose Texas A&M) and four-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho (who chose Notre Dame).
The Hurricanes now have 13 commitments in their Class of 2027. King is the fourth top-100 prospect in Miami’s class, per the 247 composite ranking, joining Wright (No. 9), wide receiver Nick Lennear (No. 12) and quarterback Israel Abrams (No. 39).
