Ewha Women’s University (President Lee Hyang-sook) will hold the “2026 Global Health Forum” at the LG Convention Hall of the International Education Center on the 15th to commemorate the 140th anniversary of its foundation.

The forum was designed to analyze the impact of climate change and energy transition on humanity and society as a whole, and to explore ways to cooperate for a citizen-centered and sustainable future. Under the theme of ‘University-City-Based Global Health Initiative to Change the Future of Climate and Competent Citizens,’ new cooperation measures to connect campuses and cities will be discussed.

The forum, co-hosted by Ewha Womans University and Ewha Global Social Contribution Institute, will also include major domestic and foreign organizations such as the British Embassy in Korea, the Global Green Growth Organization, the Environmental Foundation, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Naver, Yonsei University’s Earth Health Research Institute, LG Chem, and the World Health Organization’s Asia-Pacific Environmental Health Center.

The event begins with the opening speech of Park Ji-hyun, vice president of Ewha Global Social Contribution Institute, and Lee Hyang-sook, president of Ewha Womans University. It will be followed by congratulatory remarks from Kim Sang-hyup, secretary-general of the Global Green Growth Organization, Jason Alford, head of the World Bank’s Korea office, Cha Ji-ho, the 22nd member of the National Assembly, and Geum Han-seung, first vice minister of climate, energy, and environment.

The first session ‘Global Health and Social Responsibility’ comprehensively looks at the impact of complex crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution on human health and social equity. First of all, Choi Jong-hee, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s health risk response officer, Choi Ye-yeol, chairman of the Environmental Foundation, Yoo Yeon-chul, secretary-general of the U.N. Global Compact Korea Association, and Sandro Demao, director of the World Health Organization’s Asia-Pacific Environmental Health Center, will be the keynote speakers to present the direction for global health. Subsequently, a panel discussion will be held under the theme of ‘Climate Accountability and Cooperation’. Finally, through the Global Health Declaration and Pledge, we will proclaim our joint commitment to environmental protection and health equity.

In the second session, ‘Urban-Campus Innovation and Next-Generation Leadership’, we will discuss ways to realize global health, focusing on university- and city-based cooperation models and action strategies. Following the opening of Lee Hye-mi, a professor at Ewha Womans University, Ha Eun-hee, head of Ewha Global Social Contribution, will announce the “UniverCity Vision,” and Lee Ok-soo, head of the Kim & Chang Sustainability Climate Center, Ram Ki-po, professor at the University of Singapore, Nam Young-sook, professor at Ewha Womans University, Donga Im Naver ESG executive, and Lee Yoo-jin, head of LG Chem’s sustainability division, will participate as keynote speakers. After that, Kim Eun-mi, chairman of Ewha School, will take the chairmanship and hold a panel discussion with all the keynote speakers. At the end of the session, the “2026 Ewha ESG Idea Contest” award ceremony will be held.
