Valmont has announced plans to build an irrigation equipment production plant in Kazakhstan through a partnership with Imstalkon JSC.
The facility will manufacture irrigation systems for both the domestic market and export destinations across Asia.
Kazakhstan Attracts Global Manufacturers
The investment further strengthens Kazakhstan’s position as a strategic manufacturing location for agricultural equipment companies seeking access to Central Asian and neighboring markets.
Valmont joins other major international manufacturers that have established industrial operations in the country, including John Deere and Claas.
The country’s geographic location, agricultural potential, and growing focus on modernization have helped attract increasing levels of foreign investment in recent years.
New Agricultural Drone Production Facility
At the same time, Kazakhstan is expanding its presence in agricultural technology manufacturing.
A new agricultural drone assembly plant has recently been inaugurated in the Turkestan region.
The facility, operated by Avatar Agro, has an annual production capacity of 500 drones.
The project is designed to support the growing adoption of precision agriculture technologies across Kazakhstan and neighboring markets.
Digital Pest Monitoring Initiatives
Kazakhstan is also advancing digital agriculture programs through the deployment of intelligent pest monitoring systems.
The technology utilizes smart traps that automatically transmit field data online, enabling:
-
Real-time monitoring of pest populations
-
Digital tracking of infestation dynamics
-
Predictive forecasting using analytical models
-
Faster decision-making for crop protection strategies
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernize agricultural production through data-driven management tools.
Market Context
Kazakhstan has become an increasingly attractive destination for agricultural equipment manufacturers seeking to expand their presence in Central Asia. The country combines large-scale agricultural production with government-backed modernization programs aimed at improving productivity, irrigation infrastructure, and technology adoption.
Investment activity is no longer limited to traditional machinery manufacturing and now extends to precision agriculture, drones, digital monitoring systems, and smart farming technologies.
Outlook
Valmont’s investment highlights Kazakhstan’s growing importance within the global agricultural machinery and agtech landscape.
As international manufacturers continue to establish production capacity in the country and new digital agriculture projects move forward, Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a regional center for both agricultural equipment manufacturing and precision farming innovation.
