BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 29 participants have successfully completed the third cohort of the Coding.bn programme, organised by the Authority for Infocommunications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), and were celebrated at a closing ceremony on Thursday (April 16).
Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Dr May Fa’ezah Ahmad Ariffin, as Chair of the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC), the guest of honour, presented the certificates of completion to the participants.
Upon completion of the programme, the participants were certified with Entry-Level Python Certification.
Chief Executive of AITI Jailani Buntar, the Co-lead of the MISC Working Group for the ICT sector (MISC-WG ICT), highlighted that Coding.bn is more than a training programme, describing it as a strategic investment in building a future-ready, industry-driven digital workforce for Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony continued with a presentation by Chief Marketing Officer of Mindtrex Academy Sdn Bhd Nur Su’aidah Metussin, the appointed facilitator, highlighting the overall journey and achievements of Cohort 3 participants.
This was followed by a sharing of trainers’ insights by Coding.bn Cohort 3 trainer Arif Nurdiansyah, who noted that the programme helped participants build strong foundational skills, gain confidence in real-world work, and improve their readiness for industry roles.
Meanwhile, a sharing session was also delivered by participant representative Mohammad Qawiem Al-Wazien Mohd Nazri, who reflected on his journey and experience in the programme.
The event concluded with a tour of the participants’ project showcase.
Coding.bn is a six-month programme introduced in 2021, aimed at equipping information and communication technology (ICT) youth jobseekers with in-demand programming skills.
The programme provides a comprehensive learning experience, balancing technical proficiency, hands-on training and professional development.
Participants undergo selected modules, apprenticeships and one-on-one mentoring with local and regional industry partners, equipping them with skills to contribute to Brunei’s digital workforce.
It is one of the recognised programmes under the MISC-WG ICT, which aims to address unemployment concerns in Brunei by offering initiatives that enhance the readiness and marketability of youth jobseekers for the ICT sector.
Throughout the programme, participants underwent three months of intensive classroom learning followed by three months of on-the-job training with host organisations, while being concurrently mentored by industry experts.
AITI and the MISC-WG ICT remain committed to further strengthening Brunei’s digital workforce through this and other initiatives, with the goal of building a talent pool of ICT professionals equipped to meet the evolving demands of current and future employers.
