MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA — JGL Commodities, a commodity merchandising and logistics company, has entered an agreement to acquire the Providence Grain Solutions terminal near Marengo, Saskatchewan.
Financial terms of the acquisition, announced July 22, were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in August.
JGL Commodities said the terminal will strengthen its presence in a productive grain-growing region of Saskatchewan while enhancing its ability to connect producers with domestic and international markets.
The Marengo facility has licensed grain storage capacity of 22,960 tonnes and is served by Canadian National Railway (CN), according to the Canadian Grain Commission elevator registry.
“This is a significant step in the evolution of JGL Commodities,” said Shea Jameson, chief executive officer of JGL Commodities. “The terminal in Marengo is a strategic asset that fits naturally within our existing business model. It allows us to expand our presence in an important production area, strengthen our relationships with producers, and provide additional marketing opportunities while continuing to deliver value throughout the supply chain.”
The terminal will add grain handling and storage capacity to JGL Commodities’ network, supporting a reliable and efficient supply chain for producers and end-use customers, the company said, with local staff retained.
After the transaction closes, JGL Commodities said it will provide more details about the facility’s operations, services and future plans.
