Ramban, may 31 (KNS) : The Sawalkote Hydroelectric Project on Sunday concluded its 16-day-long Swachhta Pakhwada 2026 campaign with a mass rally at Tanger village, the project headquarters in Ramban, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility among local residents.
Led by Head of Project (HOP) Dinabandhu Boral, the rally witnessed participation from project employees, contractual staff and scores of local residents. Participants marched with banners and placards carrying messages on cleanliness, while cloth and paper bags were distributed among local businesses to encourage a shift away from plastic use.
During interactions with locals and shopkeepers, Boral highlighted the environmental, health and agricultural benefits of replacing plastic bags with paper or jute alternatives. He stressed the need to reduce garbage and plastic waste to ensure a healthy and sustainable future.
“Once we’re getting rid of garbage and plastics in our environment, only then we can see a healthy and sustainable future ahead,” Shri Boral said.
Expressing concern over recent cancer-related deaths in the village, he urged residents to prevent contamination of water sources caused by littered garbage and plastic waste.
