Citadel EHS has acquired Aurora Industrial Hygiene, strengthening the environmental, health, safety, and sustainability consulting platform’s presence in California and expanding its industrial hygiene and occupational health capabilities.

The transaction was announced by Broadview Group, the St. Louis-based investment firm that backs Citadel EHS as part of its business services portfolio.

Founded in 1996, Aurora Industrial Hygiene provides industrial hygiene, occupational health, OSHA compliance, hazardous materials consulting, asbestos and lead services, indoor air quality assessments, and exposure monitoring. The firm operates from offices in San Diego and Los Angeles and serves clients across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, government, and construction sectors.

The acquisition adds Aurora’s team of certified industrial hygienists, certified safety professionals, certified asbestos consultants, and environmental health and safety specialists to Citadel’s Industrial Hygiene & Safety practice.

Broadview Group Vice President Davis Malone said Aurora’s technical expertise, client relationships, and employee-focused culture align closely with Citadel’s long-term growth strategy and consulting platform expansion efforts.

The deal expands Citadel’s geographic reach across California while adding specialized environmental health and workplace safety expertise at a time when employers continue facing increasing regulatory requirements related to occupational safety, environmental compliance, and workplace health standards.

Citadel EHS Chief Executive Officer Loren Witkin described Aurora as both a strategic and cultural fit that enhances the company’s ability to serve clients throughout California and nationwide.

Aurora founders Karen Shockley and Grace Rinck led the company for nearly three decades and said they sought a partner that would preserve the firm’s client-focused approach while providing additional resources and growth opportunities for employees and customers.

The transaction reflects continued consolidation across the environmental health and safety consulting sector, where firms are increasingly combining specialized technical expertise with broader national service platforms to meet growing demand from public and private sector organizations.

Headquartered in Southern California, Citadel EHS provides environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, engineering, safety consulting, building sciences, and environmental, social, and governance advisory services to clients across the United States.

Broadview Group invests in niche manufacturing, specialty distribution, and business services companies, partnering with management teams to support long-term growth and operational expansion.
