SP Samhwa, formerly SAMHWA PAINT INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD., will take part in a project to improve living conditions for vulnerable households together with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and others.

SP Samhwa said on the 12th that it signed a memorandum of understanding on the 11th with the Ministry of Environment, KEITI, and others for a project to improve indoor environments for vulnerable groups in environmental health.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and organized by KEITI, was designed to help vulnerable groups live in safer indoor environments free from harmful environmental factors. Kim Han-seung, first vice minister of the Ministry of Environment, Nam Kwang-woo, president of KEITI, and Kim Jeong-bae, head of SP Samhwa’s business division, were among the key attendees.

Under the agreement, indoor environment improvement work will be carried out for 250 households receiving basic livelihood benefits or classified as near-poverty households that have children under the age of 13. The program will target homes deemed in urgent need of improvement based on indoor air quality tests. SP Samhwa will provide its premium iLux Paint for the project. iLux Paint meets the volatile organic compound standards set by the Clean Air Conservation Act and is manufactured without formaldehyde or heavy metals.

At the event, SP Samhwa also received a ministerial commendation in recognition of its long-standing contribution to improving living environments for vulnerable groups. Kim Jeong-bae, head of SP Samhwa’s business division, said, “It is meaningful that SP Samhwa has been able to take part in the indoor environment improvement project for vulnerable groups in environmental health for 14 years.” He added, “SP Samhwa will continue to walk alongside others through steady support and sharing.”

Founded in 1946, SP Samhwa is one of South Korea’s leading paint companies. To mark its 80th anniversary this year, the company changed its name from SAMHWA PAINT INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD. to SP Samhwa. It also said it plans to expand the share of sales from its secondary battery materials and semiconductor materials businesses as part of its transition into an advanced materials company.
