Newswise — A new study led by UC San Diego Health finds that 85% of patients surveyed prefer to receive care at a hospital system that supports sustainability practices, such as reducing waste, sourcing local food and transitioning to clean energy. Nationwide, the health care industry emits a significant amount of greenhouse gas and waste. UC San Diego Health is leading the way in responding to the climate crisis by launching the region’s first health care program focused solely on sustainability in 2019.
