Morgan Rogers’ comments have offered a glimpse into where he sees himself playing in the future
Arsenal have already been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Morgan Rogers after the midfielder said “there is no team bigger” than rivals Manchester United, who are also interested in his signature.
The Aston Villa star is among the most sought-after players in the transfer market this summer. The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Villa’s standout performers over the past two years, managing 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season.
Unsurprisingly, this form has attracted attention from the likes of Arsenal and United, although Villa are expected to demand in excess of £90million for their prized asset. football.london understands that Rogers is one of the Gunners’ top priorities.

Meanwhile, The Manchester Evening News reported at the start of May that a move for Rogers is under consideration at Old Trafford. And Sky Sports France now reports that the Reds have made contact with Villa to gauge a potential deal, while the Gunners are said to have contacted his agent.
Michael Carrick is expected to strengthen his midfield and left-wing options, both areas where Rogers is capable of operating, this summer, while Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a world class left-winger.
Yet, the England international’s previous remarks, having described United as a bigger club, suggest he may favour a move to Old Trafford over the Premier League champions should it come down to a direct decision between the two.
Speaking last December after Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over United, in which he netted both goals, Rogers said: “It’s massive. Every game is important, there’s no bigger team than United.
“They came here to play, they’re a tough team to play against and we’ve not had a great record against them recently so we knew we had to put it right and we’re happy with the three points.”
Reports suggest Rogers is considering leaving Villa for fresh pastures this summer. But, having secured Champions League qualification, he isn’t actively agitating for an exit.
Addressing questions on whether transfer rumours had affected his performances, the midfielder said on The Rest Is Football: “I think the first time it ever happened it was [impactful].
“You’re in an uncomfortable spot of not realising that people have so much interest in you and you’re not quite realising that. But as you get older and gain experience along the way, you know that comes with it and 95 per cent of it is just noise.
“You hear it, course you do. You can’t help not. You know it’s there but you’ve got to use it in a positive way. You just try and get on with your game and just focus.”
