LONDON, June 24 (Reuters) – UN Secretary General Antonio
Guterres on Wednesday called for a new approach to climate
adaptation, including taxing windfall profits from fossil fuel
companies to help pay for it.
Multi-lateral development bank shareholders must also give
lenders “far greater firepower” to respond to the challenges
posed by extreme weather events, including giving them more
capital to help fund projects that can build resilience,
Guterres told the London Climate Action Week event.
