Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, June 2026 — Asha P Pillai has started a new position as CFO Shell Recharge Solutions / Finance Manager Emobility Tech at Shell.
Pillai has been associated with Shell for nearly two decades and brings extensive global leadership experience across finance transformation, digital finance, strategic planning, performance management, energy transition, and technology-enabled business operations.
Prior to taking on her new role, she served as Global Planning and Appraisal Manager – Information & Digital Technology at Shell, where she managed a $4 billion investment budget for Shell Group’s IDT organization while leading a team of 40 professionals and multiple business finance managers. During her tenure, she drove organizational reshaping initiatives, implemented touchless management information projects to improve operational efficiency, and successfully executed the IDT operating plan amid rapid organizational growth and evolving business support models.
Earlier, Pillai worked as CFO – Hazira Group of Companies, where she led the transition of a joint venture into a Shell-operated venture and played a pivotal role in acquisition accounting, integration of Shell Energy businesses, operating framework implementation, digital finance transformation, and organizational culture initiatives. She also ensured seamless business continuity and compliance during the Covid-19 pandemic while transitioning finance operations from manual systems to virtual operations.
Before that, she served as Commercial Finance Advisor – Digital, leading financial strategy and governance for multiple global digital ventures including NewMotion, Ionity, Machine Max, and OpenBay. During this period, she also drove initiatives focused on embedding data science and analytics into global marketing operations and improving financial recording and reporting systems for digital ventures.
Her earlier leadership journey at Shell additionally includes roles such as Commercial Finance Advisor – East, Retail Finance Manager – India, Business Development Manager – Non Fuel Revenues, Senior Finance Advisor – Projects and Technologies, and Finance Analyst – Business Finance, Retail. Across these roles, she contributed significantly towards strategic business planning, pricing strategy, retail growth initiatives, risk assurance, performance appraisal, and financial transformation programs.
Prior to joining Shell, Pillai worked with Whirlpool of India Ltd as Deputy Manager – Corporate Planning & Analysis, where she built foundational expertise in corporate finance and business planning.
With nearly 20 years of experience across global finance leadership, digital transformation, commercial finance, energy transition, and strategic operations, Pillai is expected to play a key role in strengthening Shell’s eMobility and Shell Recharge Solutions business as the organization accelerates its transition towards cleaner and smarter energy solutions.
