Fer Lopez is expected to be in Wolves’ Championship squad next season despite links to another move. ExpressAndStar.com understands he is set to stay involved.
He joined for £19.5million from Celta Vigo last summer, made 12 appearances with two Premier League starts, then rejoined Celta on loan in January.
The loan ran to the end of the season with no option to buy, though Spanish reports suggested he could go back to Celta next term.
Wolves currently plan for him to report back and compete in pre-season as they chase an instant Premier League return. Head coach Rob Edwards is prepared to assess him, and there is no intention for now to sell or loan.
Celta sporting director Marco Garces said they will try to bring Lopez back for 2026/27 and will explore options throughout the summer.
On his Celta return, he scored against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League, then in La Liga in a 3-2 win at Valencia.
Celta finished sixth in La Liga and will play in the Europa League again next season.
A Celta academy graduate, he broke through in the second half of 2024/25, scoring four in 20 appearances before moving to Molineux.
After returning this season, Lopez said the Premier League’s physicality and Wolves’ style did not suit him yet, and that he needed time and minutes he did not get.
