Join Field Hockey Canada’s NextGen Coaching Team
As the new field hockey season approaches, Field Hockey Canada is sharing an exciting regional coaching opportunities across the country. The NextGen programming for 2026/27 is due to start in a few weeks, and Field Hockey Canada is seeking Expressions of Interest from coaches who are interested in joining our NextGen coaching team.
What is NextGen:
NextGen is Field Hockey Canada’s elite athlete and coaching development program – designed to identify, develop and accelerate Canada’s next generation of high-performance field hockey talent through world-class structured training environments.
NextGen Coaching:
NextGen training sessions are delivered by three groups of coaches. The NextGen Lead Coach is a Field Hockey Canada appointed coach responsible for leading the delivery of NextGen camps. These include our Senior and Junior MNT and WNT Head Coaches. These coaches are supported by our NextGen coaches who are paid coaches from the local regions. These coaches are required to attend pre-camp calls and complete post-camp evaluations of every athlete who participates in the NextGen training site.
FHC is seeking Expressions of Interest to develop our third group of coaches: Emerging NextGen Coaches. These are coaches who are local and looking for opportunities to join our NextGen coaching team. They would be volunteer positions with the expectation of attending camps and supporting delivery of on-field instruction. Once active in the pathway, they would be eligible for evaluation and consideration for moving into the NextGen Coach category. (Timelines for this can be discussed individually)
The allocation of coaches for our youth national tours would be initially focused on coaches housed within our NextGen Coaches group. With the development of appropriate and necessary skills being a primary role for the Pathway Technical Lead.

“I wanted to also use this opportunity to introduce myself. I have recently joined the Field Hockey Canada team in the role of Pathway Technical Lead. My role is to support the design and implementation of our NextGen curriculum across Canada to ensure our Pathway is up to the task of elevating Field Hockey Canada’s performances on the international stage. Since joining the organization I’ve had the opportunity to engage with several community members and look forward to more engagement as the role progresses. I come to Field Hockey Canada after 13 years working in the NCAA and 15 years of youth national team experiences across Ireland and the USA. A teacher by trade, I completed my Masters in Performance Coaching and I aspire to stand in the crowd at an Olympics and have an Olympian say “you helped me get here’” If that’s something that you can relate to, then please consider joining our NextGen coaching team.”

We are seeking expressions of interest in joining our NextGen Coaching team. If successful, these coaches would join our pool of Emerging NextGen Coaches, a volunteer coaching group who support the delivery of NextGen in their region. From here, their coaching can be evaluated and their journey in the NextGen Coaching Pathway can begin. To express interest, follow this link before September 1, 2026.
