Bournemouth have been linked to appointing Frank Lampard as their next head coach and now an update has emerged on their interest in Coventry City boss
Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard looks to be out of the running to become Bournemouth’s next manager. The 47-year-old swiftly emerged as a candidate in the wake of Andoni Iraola’s planned exit being confirmed on Tuesday, but it now seems that two others are above him in the Cherries’ pecking order.
Ipswich Town’s Kieran Mckenna and former RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose are the two managers on their shortlist, according to ESPN. Rayo Vallecano head coach Inigo Perez and Lampard have also been linked but focus now seems to be elsewhere.
The most recent reports will arrive as excellent news to City fans, who are on the brink of watching their side return to the Premier League. Last weekend’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday put the Sky Blues 12 points and 33 goals clear of dropping out of the automatic promotion places.
A positive result against Blackburn this Friday night or Millwall not beating QPR the following day will officially seal their spot in England’s top-flight for next season.

City still have four games left to play this season, with focus switching to securing the Championship title once promotion back to the top-flight is confirmed.
Considering that also looks set to be wrapped up before the season concludes, it is perhaps no surprise that Lampard has garnered interest.
Though Bournemouth now appear to be looking elsewhere, it is no doubt that Lampard’s stock has risen since joining Coventry in November 2024.
Reports had emerged earlier this year that discussions with owner Doug King over a contract extension had started and when asked about that, Lampard provided a clear response. He said: “No. I’m too focused on football right now. I’m very happy here and focused on the football.”
With that being his response to his own future at the club, it is likely he shared a similar stance on links to the Bournemouth job and there is no suggestion the former England midfielder would be looking elsewhere.
