The impact of the rupee’s depreciation on India’s economy will likely be mixed, with the country’s import bill expected to be higher while export competitiveness may improve, a junior finance minister said.

The overall effect on economic growth and the current account deficit would depend on the “evolving trajectory of various macroeconomic parameters,” Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply to lawmakers Monday.
