Main index ends just below 2,600

The Athens Stock Exchange ended a fraction higher Thursday, bucking slightly negative trends in other European markets and a negative opening on Wall Street, as investors remained worried about Treasury yields.

The General Index ended at 2,599.44 points, up 0.23%. Turnover was €200.33 million on 24,081,161 traded shares.

Blue chips gained 0.30%, mid-caps 0.20% and banks 0.39%.

Out of 121 traded stocks, 62 ended with gains, 41 declined and 18 were unchanged.

The biggest gainers among blue chips were Optima Bank (5.34%), CrediaBank (3.49%), GEK Terna (2.70%), ElvalHalcor (1.92%) and Metlen (1.46%). 

The top decliners were Viohalco (-1.38%), Coca-Cola HBC (-1.14%), PPC (-1.09%) and (-0.80%).
