Cryptocurrency has become the main source of income for the US president in 2025
Donald Trump, returning to the post of US president, earned $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency and royalties from memecoins. This is evidenced by the data of the annual financial declarations Trump, analyzed FT and Bloomberg.
The 927-page document shows that the current US president has made cryptocurrency his main business. Cryptocurrency revenues far exceed the $77 million he received from his Mar-a-Lago resort or the $25 million he received from his golf club in Northern Virginia.
The largest revenue – $636 million – came from Trump-owned CIC Digital LLC. Almost all of this came in royalties from a licensing agreement with Celebration Coins. Celebration Coins is behind memecoin $TRUMP, which Trump launched a few days before his inauguration in January 2025. The coin instantly skyrocketed in price and quickly fell, leaving most buyers at a loss.
The second largest source of income is $594 million from token sales World Liberty Financial. This is a crypto company that Trump founded with his sons Eric and Donald Jr. and the sons of his special envoy Steve Witkoff. WLF issued WLFI tokens, and Trump actually received an individual discount on their sale through royalties. He still has 15.75 billion tokens worth about $900 million in his hands, although they have also fallen sharply over the past year.
The third source is $197 million from the sale of a stake in Stablecoin Holdco, the company behind the USD1 dollar stablecoin that WLF issued in early 2025. Trump owns 38.25% of Stablecoin Holdco.
Trump’s fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, is estimated at $7.6 billion.
